If you have access to a team of engineers that can install conversion tracking for you, all you need to do is tell them what events to install and point them towards the right documentation.
First, make sure you've completed the Project: Conversion Events doc. You can then send it to your engineers for reference.
Google mostly wants people to use Google Tag Manager, but if the engineers want to use custom code they can. Send them this documentation: https://support.google.com/analytics/topic/9756175?hl=en&ref_topic=14132937&sjid=8644168193120083648-NC
Here's a template you can send to your engineers:
Hi #{engineers},
To run ads and see if they work, we need to install conversion tracking for our different ad channels.
Open up this doc: {{link to conversion events doc}}
Then, two requests for you:
1) Start at the bottom of the doc in the Pixels section. Please make sure this code runs on every page of our site and app.
2) Go back to the top of the doc. For each conversion event, go through each ad channel and add the line of code for that specific channel. (If this gets unwieldy, we should chat about switching to Google Tag Manager.)
Here are the docs for the different channels, if you need them:
Thanks!
If they're using GTM or Segment, point them towards our readings on those topics for extra documentation. These can be found under the Conversion Tracking: Additional Resources section in the sidebar.
(Side note: Are you the "engineer," stuck, and don't have a technical background? We've had great experiences with Codementor. Make sure they have experience with frontend development β look for people who know JavaScript [knowing React is a good signal].)
Go back to Conversion Events > Overview of Projects and move on to the next step.
